for Temple of Desire
“Are you a Bharatanatyam artist residing in Sydney or nearby? Do you want to join an award-winning international dance theatre project? Are you ready to delve into a subversive and empowering creative process that explores feminist, trans and queer themes through Bharatanatyam? We want to hear from you!”
ABOUT THE PROJECT
Karma Dance Inc. will be touring Temple of Desire, an award-winning, subversive and critically acclaimed community dance theatre performance to a premier arts venue in Sydney in June 2026.
This is an invitation for artists based in Sydney (or within commutable distance from Sydney) to audition, and if selected, participate in this project as a dancer.
Successful artists will perform alongside a cast of touring dancers from across Melbourne and Toronto who performed in either the award-winning premier season of this work, or its internationally tour.
This performance is an exciting opportunity for dancers with a background in Bharatanatyam, to collaborate with and perform in a high quality production with an international touring group.
This project is subversive and is people-of-colour, queer, trans and feminist forward. Karma Dance Inc. is a not-for-profit professional arts organisation that provides an inclusive, positive and uplifting environment for Bharatanatyam dancers to deepen their practise, self-awareness/expression, make international connections and be part of an exciting project that changes perspectives.
